Welcome to Barritt Audio
On this website, you will find this library of pipe organ Sample Sets for the software Hauptwerk. Hauptwerk allows you to play real-world instruments by connecting up a keyboard/organ console with MIDI capability to your computer, to play the closest approximations of the original instrument(s) from your home, or anywhere.
Barritt Audio also offers classical location recording services.
About
I’m Ivan Barritt, a 20-year-old organist and sound engineer from Somerset, England, and the founder of Barritt Audio, dedicated to recording and sampling pipe organs for the Hauptwerk Virtual Pipe Organ platform. My musical journey began at the age of 9 as a chorister at Gloucester Cathedral, where exposure to its organ inspired me to begin lessons and later explore virtual organs. Using a few old keyboards, I built a makeshift practice console, which sparked a long-term fascination with digital organ technology and sampling.
That early interest developed into a deep passion for the recording, editing, and production processes behind organ sample sets. Creating sample sets demands patience, technical precision, and attention to detail. Barritt Audio was founded to preserve distinctive instruments in a virtual form and to share this work with the wider organ community, combining careful musical judgement with high-quality audio production.
I’m currently studying Music and Sound Recording (Tonmeister®) at the University of Surrey, where I’m developing skills in recording and post-production that directly support my work with Barritt Audio. In addition to this, I work as a freelance classical recording engineer, recording soloists, ensembles, and choirs throughout London and the UK. Looking ahead, I aim to expand Barritt Audio’s catalogue of sample sets and, ultimately, to travel overseas to record some of the world’s most significant pipe organs.
